Havin' a go?...

Hey guys, was browsing through some of the club entries on the FM.net site, eventually found a few (like 2) that didn't appear to have been created by 13-yo's. Like the last guy who joined up here, I've spent all my hundreds of hours on Forza 3 just on single player coz the random online racing hookups are mostly horrible, though there were occassional flashes of genuine racing fun in b/w the bad sportsmanship and people driving backwards. (For the record, I also grow pretty weary of the types who only *ever* drive the detuned Mazda B09 in R2 races when the other 7 people are mixing it up in DTMs or JGTCs or whatever - I would much rather come 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th in a brutally close sprint race than win by 2 minutes in a car that is 10x faster than everything else on the circuit)

Pretty much just want to play some fun, close, (mostly) clean racing - basically what you never get on Live. I'm not deadly hyper serious - I'm not deadly hyper GOOD either - so I actually love a bit of scrape, shunt and jostle, but I also wanna be playing with people who I know aren't intentionally wiping me out just to be a dick. I dunno how dedicated all youse are and how often you are racing, but I was wondering about joining in for a few weeks or something, to test the water and see if racing clubs are the cure to the lousiness of random online races?

hey leopard.  sorry we took so long getting started. it is NOT typically like that.  in this case, we had over 8 guys and were forced to create two rooms (not usual).

hopefully you don't get turned away by that.  forza 4 will have 16 driver lobbies

Hey Leopardsqueezy,

You've found a good place to test a club out.  Trust me when I say, it's much better racing when you know the guy next to you isn't going to purposely run you into the dirt.

The club was specifically created to avoid all that crap, and so far (with minor issues here or there) has been surving it's purpose.

Add me "Mr sharperSIN' to your friends list. As well as "Mr RickyTan".  Currently, and you can check the calendar, we are running a DTM series (which ends next tuesday).  You're kind of coming in at an odd transition period.  A few of our series are ending or ended, and we are all waiting on Froza 4.

But, still, add us, and if we are online, join in.  Everyone that races here is between the ages of 18-50 Smile skill levels roughly average low 20's.

Glad you joined up and I hope I get a chance to race with you soon.

Cheers boss. No biggie if all the events are ending soon - I'm waiting for F4 too. I imagine the racing potential will only get better in the next game, so it's still worth having a hunt around for a better way to do multiplayer. I am also between the ages of 18-50 Tongue and my skill level, based on the few hours I played this week (aka my total online racing time), is in the high teens if memory serves properly. Also, slightly dumb question - all them kick-off times for the events you've got up there.... what time zone is that referring to? (I'm down the ass end of the globe in New Zealand, you see). If I'm not working at those times, and as long as those times don't translate to like 3am or something over here, I might have a whack.

The timeszone I post in is Eastern Standard (US).  The tuesday events are set up as 11:30pm UK / 6:30pm ET.  Mr RickyTan has events set up during different times of day.

If you edit your profile, and pick your timezone.. the website will automatically convert the event times to show your time.

... we just signed up (a few of us) for the Virtual Motorsports website .. which seems to cater to ALL timezones.  I must add though, that they are pretty serious about racing Smile

Sweet as, got it sussed. If I want to join in the DTM event tomorrow, all I gotta do is have Forza 3 running and connected to Live when it kicks off, right?

Apologies in advance if I have to bail before it finishes - the predicted finish time is nudging sorta close to the time I start work. But if it wraps up at the predicted time it'll be fine. So far as I can tell, it starts 10:30am over here. Apologies too for if someone tries to speak to me and gets no reply - if that happens, it's totally coz I haven't figured how to get any damn sound going with the headset n everything. Like I said, I've only started using Live again for the first time in like forever. Yeah I know: noob - I'll get it sorted eventually.

I'm all about the fun - serious racing is all good as long as it's still fun. The virtualmotorsport thing looks a bit extreme at this point, I'll keep it a bit more low-key for now.

One more thing, and I shit you not: I have yet to play an online Forza race where I haven't been Pitt-manoeuvred or deliberately shunted off the home straight when I'm about to overtake someone.... kinda looking forward to racing for grown-ups...

OK, cool.  Yeah, if you are online, you're more than welcome to join in!  We have rules set that, if someone is wrecked on the first turn, we restart. We do this up to 3 times. (first turns are always CRAZY).

Just take it easy in the first turn.  Smile

Yup. No probs there. In the few dozen or so races I've tried over the past week I've never smashed anyone off the track on a first corner, or just about any corner come to think of it (I've watched enough racing on tv to know about the 1st turn of the race). I'm not perfect by any means, but I certainly make an effort to avoid plowing people off. I'VE been rammed off plenty though, which is precisely why I'm trying the clubs out.... but it does make a huge difference to me whether others are doing that deliberately or whether they tried to avoid but genuinely couldn't, coz I can handle that it will happen at some point.
